Our Vision

Tāmaki is New Zealand’s largest inner-city regeneration project.

Featuring world-leading urban planning, connected neighbourhoods, arts and community spaces, plans for two redeveloped town centres and over 10,500 healthy homes, it has families at its heart.

The Tāmaki Regeneration Programme is New Zealand’s largest urban transformation project. Our goals are ambitious and broad for our community. Tāmaki is transforming through new homes, redeveloped  town centres and green spaces and world-leading urban design.

Our new neighbourhoods will have a combination of townhouses, stand-alone homes and apartments, designed to create a welcoming environment for walking, cycling and our tamariki to play. We’re revitalising our town centres with new shopping and eating options to give Tāmaki a fresh vibrancy.

And it’s more than just building new homes.

We are building spaces where the residents of Tāmaki can thrive.

The programme is managed by Tāmaki Regeneration Company, and we’re jointly owned by the New Zealand Government and Auckland Council. We work in partnership with the Kāinga Ora – Homes and Community (formerly HLC), local community, iwi, Maungakiekie-Tāmaki local board, government agencies, strategic partners, private investors and business.
