THREE SUBURBS LINKED TOGETHER MAKING SOMETHING NEW, INCLUSIVE AND INSPIRING.

Tāmaki is people. Where people from all walks of life, support each other to create a Tāmaki that’s caring, inclusive, and diverse, now and in the future. Where everyone, from young and old, existing and new residents will have greater opportunities for education, home ownership, jobs and businesses.

Tāmaki’s multi-billion-dollar transformation is New Zealand’s largest inner-city regeneration project. The Government, community, and the mana whenua are working together to build a Tāmaki that’s inclusive and innovative with a global outlook. Tāmaki (Tamaki) – a place with three suburbs, growing stronger together.

Tāmaki Makaurau. The Māori name for Auckland means ‘the place, desired, by many.’ Tāmaki (Tamaki) is the place where Auckland’s story begins. Its history stretches back over a thousand years and takes its name from the river that flows past its door.

Today, it’s transforming into a place that honours the past, and is connected to the future. Tāmaki includes Glen Innes, Panmure, and Point England, linked together making something new, inclusive and inspiring. Tāmaki is bringing together people with diverse cultures, desires, and aspirations, offering a place to grow, flourish and prosper. Tāmaki has three sides to every story.

Tāmaki is the river that runs to the sea. A safe haven sheltered by Maungarei, Mount Wellington. Located 13km south-east of the Auckland CBD, Tāmaki is set on 880 hectares of prime land, with expansive views across the Tāmaki River and towards Half Moon Bay and Bucklands Beach.

Bordering the established suburbs of Glendowie, St Heliers and Mission Bay. Tāmaki is close to the CBD’s job, leisure and recreation offerings. It has efficient, fast and reliable road, rail, and cycle connections with possible ferry services on the way. Three stops to Britomart, one to Sylvia Park, and 30-minutes to Auckland International Airport.

Tāmaki is growing. It has plans for more than 7,500 new homes, the redevelopment of two town centres, and major improvements to recreation facilities, waterways and parks. It will feature the world’s most innovative urban planning, connected new neighbourhoods, spaces for vibrant arts and community activities, as well as stylish shopping, hospitality, and office spaces.

Tāmaki is fast becoming one of Auckland’s best places to live, work and invest. It’s filled with potential for everyone who lives here now, and those yet to come.
